AWESOME: Architecture that Breathes

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science” — Albert Einstein

Whether you’re a architecture nerd or just someone who appreciates things of beauty, we at Kubix have some amazing things that we find that we just love to share! There is so much wonder out there and all we have to do is look for it. All it takes is one ingenious mind to turn beauty into marvel.

This week’s ingenious mind is Doris Sung, founder of DO | SU Studio Architecture. Doris has done an amazing job creating art and architecture using the interesting mechanical properties of thermo-responsive bimetallic strips. Bimetals consist of layers of different metals (unlike alloys which are a mixture of two or more metals. When bimetal strips are exposed to temperature changes they will turn that temperature change into mechanical displacement (movement).

Take a look at the video below showing Doris Sung’s magnificent creations!
