Hey Calgary — The #Smarthome of Your Dreams is Almost Here
So for a while now at Kubix Calgary we’ve been talking about the Smart Home and the Internet of Things (IoT). As the IoT spreads, it introduces challenges to the modern home that (even though we love the technology) needs to be addressed.
As co-founder of OneButton Matt Emmi puts it “a smart home is a home that is controllable and well designed”. The challenges that we face with IoT are centred around practicality and communication. With concepts like Google’s Project Brillo and Apple’s HomeKit, perhaps the problems of communication will be solved. Currently however, it’s been touted as a “Wild West” as a majority of IoT devices are incapable of communicating with each other. Perhaps a more practical application is required?
